Photo
Transfers are not only for pictures! It can also be used for
written words or logo you want on your ceramics. Just ask
us how!
Here's a little bit of
information about our Photo Transfer technique.
About photo
transfer:
- Must purchased minimum 1 sheet of
photo transfer; you can
 choose to have as many pictures you
can fit on your 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet. You can use all
of them on your bisque(s) or you can use some of them later
on another project.
- When doing photo transfer on pottery
your colored photo will turn out a sepia brown color.
- Turn around time may be longer than 7
days for a piece with photo transfer, 2 separate firings are
required which take more time.

Choosing a
piece:
- Select a piece that will best fit your
picture, transferring a photo on a surface can
be tricky depending on its size and shape (most likely
square or rectangular).
- Hint: flat and cylindrical
shaped pieces are optimal, heavily textured or curvaceous
pieces are not recommended.
Preparing your
picture(s) for photo transfer:
- All photos you are planning to use for
photo transfer must be pre-formatted to size and shape of
your choice to fit an 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet.
- Your formatted document must be
brought to Paint Away on a disc.
- You should also bring a copy of your
document for referencing while painting your piece (so you
can place your pictures where you want them).
An employee will
help and guide you on preparing and decorating your piece for a
photo transfer.
